DESCRIPTION:Inversion’s chorus Coda is back in Beerthoven’s house for this special\, one-night-only event with more new and original music you can raise a glass to! \nCoda\, under the direction of Trevor Shaw\, will be bringing to musical life meaningful letters composed by or sent to individual members of the chorus. Centered around composer Adrienne Inglis’s beautiful\, sometimes funny\, original setting of actual letters to her Aunt Faith\, Letters to Faith will remind us of our most cherished friends and family\, our shared history\, and our hope for future generations. The concert will include music from Inversion’s resident composers Evan Blache’\, Benjamin Dia\, Marjorie Halloran\, and Trevor Shaw\, along with beer\, snacks\, and audience singalongs. \nThanks to our sponsors\, we will be serving warm pastries generously provided by Easy Tiger. Join us on August 25th\, 2024\, at 5:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church\, a venue known for its passionate advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community’s well-being. \n“They Are Blessed!” will feature music by living black\, Latino\, and white composers and composers from the LGBTQIA+ and non-binary communities. One of our commissioned pieces includes the phrase “Blessed are the peacemakers” from the Beatitudes. \nIn addition to the poignant music that will explore both themes of celebration and moments of sorrow for the bullying our community suffers and the lives lost\, this concert will partner with organizations in our city that advocate for mental health and well-being. They Are Blessed! will solidify the message that Austin welcomes all LGBTQIA+ people and advocates for Texas to be a warm place where we stop surviving and start modeling what an embracing community is.
