SUMMARY:Austin Asian American Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) returns to the AFS Cinema (located at 6259 Middle Fiskville Rd\, Austin\, TX 78752) this June 25-29\, 2025\, celebrating their 17th year of presenting films by Asian and American\, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) filmmakers. The final lineup of films and pre/post-screening parties will be announced closer to the event in June. So stay tuned into the AAAFF website for updates. \nAAAFF\, one of the preeminent AANHPI arts organizations in town\, champions Asian and Asian American stories via media arts and empowers Asian Americans to explore opportunities in cinema. \nFestival badges and single-screening tickets will be available for purchase on the AAAFF website closer to the event date in June. DESCRIPTION:Contemporary Brazilian Social Dance Form and Technique \nThis class centers contemporary Brazilian social dance as a living cultural form shaped by Afro Brazilian rhythm\, social exchange\, and embodied musical dialogue. The practice welcomes new dancers while continuing to challenge returning participants through careful attention to foundational movement\, technique\, and musical structure. Emphasis is placed on how technique supports listening\, how rhythm organizes relationship\, and how social dance carries cultural memory through the body. \nInstruction prioritizes clarity\, consent\, and shared responsibility in partner dance. The learning environment is welcoming and inclusive\, supporting dancers in developing grounded technique\, responsive connection\, and expressive range over time. \nOpen to all experience levels. No partner required. \nThis project is supported in part by the City of Austin Office of Arts\, Culture\, Music and Entertainment. \n—– \nForma y Técnica de la Danza Social Brasileña Contemporánea \nEsta clase sitúa la danza social brasileña contemporánea como una forma cultural viva\, moldeada por el ritmo afrobrasileño\, el intercambio social y el diálogo musical encarnado. \nLa práctica da la bienvenida a personas que se inician en el baile\, al mismo tiempo que acompaña a quienes regresan mediante una atención cuidadosa al movimiento fundamental\, la técnica y la estructura musical. El enfoque se centra en cómo la técnica apoya la escucha\, cómo el ritmo organiza la relación y cómo el baile social transmite memoria cultural a través del cuerpo. \nLa enseñanza prioriza la claridad\, el consentimiento y la responsabilidad compartida en el baile en pareja.
