From candy-painted car culture to bass-thumping block parties\, Freak Chic celebrates the spirit that shaped a generation and continues to move us today. Our cast of powerhouse performers will take you on a ride through the South\, weaving striptease\, pole\, poetry\, and pure energy into a cultural experience that lives at the intersection of joy\, resistance\, and southern swagger.\nBut the show doesn’t stop at the stage. \nWhat to Expect:\n• Local vendors serving up fashion\, art\, and goods\n• Food trucks to keep you fueled all night\n• A Best Dressed Contest — come to win and show out\n• Raffles and giveaways with prizes to keep the vibe lit\n• A fully stocked bar and plenty of ones to tip your favorite performers\n• A Saturday afterparty featuring a special guest or two. \nDress Code:\nShow up and show out. DESCRIPTION:Salvation: Love as Resistance is an unapologetic celebration of love’s transformative power. When there is so much uncertainty\, it can be hard to lose focus on the fact that Love may be the only thing that will save us all. Shea Butter Babies Productions™ invites you to an evening of radical connection\, self-love\, community\, and liberation. Through burlesque\, live music\, and a variety of performance styles\, Salvation explores the many forms of love—romantic\, self-affirming\, communal\, and political—and its role as a tool of resistance. \nAs Audre Lorde once wrote\, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence\, it is self-preservation\, and that is an act of political warfare.” This production gives nod to the work of bell hooks\, Salvation: Black People and Love\, and celebrates the vast range and strength of Black love as a revolutionary force.
