DESCRIPTION:Led and curated by singer-songwriter/violinist Carrie Rodriguez\, Laboratorio is an annual four-part concert series hosted at the Paramount State Theatre in Austin\, Texas. It is an immersive live performance experience that celebrates and explores Latine culture through world-class musicianship\, visual arts\, and storytelling. Each show features the all-star Laboratorio house band\, led by Rodriguez\, collaborating with different guest artists. \nThis edition of Laboratorio brings together two iconic Texas artists: Tejano legend Ruben “El Gato Negro” Ramos and Billboard-chart-topping country artist Rick Treviño. Ruben Ramos stands as a pioneer of Tejano music\, having led Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution since 1969—a band named in honor of the emerging Chicano civil rights movement at the time. Among numerous awards and accolades\, Ramos was inducted into the Tejano Hall of Fame and earned a Grammy for his 2009 release\, “Viva La Revolucion.” \nRick Treviño\, signed to Columbia Nashville in 1993\, embarked on his career with the debut single “Just Enough Rope\,” the first mainstream country music single to offer separate English and Spanish versions. Throughout his country music journey\, Treviño has crafted numerous chart-topping hits\, six of which reached the top 10 of the Billboard Country Music Chart\, captivating millions of country music fans. \nOne thing that unites Ruben Ramos and Rick Treviño is their involvement in all three groundbreaking Los Super Seven albums. Los Super Seven\, an all-star supergroup featuring artists such as Freddy Fender\, Raul Malo\, Flaco Jimenez\, David Hidalgo\, and Cesar Rojas of Los Lobos\, saw their self-titled album earning Ramos and Treviño a Grammy Award in 1999. Don’t miss the chance to see these legendary Texas talents performing together on one stage in a single night. This project has been funded in part by the City of Austin’s Live Music Fund Event Program.
