SUMMARY:Feminine Rage
DESCRIPTION:The Jewel Box Dancers return with a two-night\, full-length staged production. This stage production presents the multifaceted theme of feminine rage\, exploring its expression across various gender identities\, with particular attention to the lived experiences of fem-presenting individuals. \nThe performance engages in the representation of feminine anger in media (both historical and contemporary) as well as personal narrative\, examining how societal expectations\, injustices\, and the framing of gendered experiences fuel emotional responses. Central to the show is the showcasing of “opting in” versus “opting out”of societal norms- how individuals navigate the tension between conforming to\, or resisting\, prescribed roles\, particularly in the context of gendered and cultural constructs. Particularly the ones that enrage us. \nThrough a series of evocative narratives\, original choreography\, hand made costuming and props\, our production underscores the necessity of an intersectional framework in understanding the diversity of anger\, conflict resolution\, and resistance. Some works explore gossip as a form of gendered protection\, the voyeuristic view of the male gaze in film\, or the fetishization of an angry woman. Others playfully interlide with humor to lampoon common every day occurrences such as “Man-splaining”. Overall this show posits that these emotional and social experiences are inextricably linked to the intersection of gender\, sexuality\, and other axes of identity. \nSpecific and intentional care has been given to ensure that Women of Color\, Sex Workers\, AFAB\, non-binary\, and transgendered performers have a voice in this production. Ultimately\, the work advocates for solidarity and collective action\, emphasizing the importance of nuanced\, inclusive approaches to addressing injustice in contemporary society. Especially when blinded by rage. \nFeaturing performances by:\nThe Jewelbox Dancers: Kimberly Larkspur\, Rynice Hanson\, Drake von Trapp\, and director Devin Alfather.\nThe Dauntless Dance Project company directed by Kimberly Larkspur.\nVidya\nKitty McSparkles\nGinger Snaps (Saturday night only)\nLilith Allure\nEmceed by Mina Daggers. \nYou can see this performance on Friday Night or on Saturday Night. Choose from VIP Front Row Seating\, General Admission Seating\, and Tabled Seating. There will be a simple bar and Non Alcoholic concessions available\, as well as light snacks. \n$15 general admission\, $25 VIP front row\, $90 VIP table for two
