In a world premiere performance at The Very Rary, Density512 and The Contemporary Austin present Flourish!, a brand new interactive musical story of nature, wonder, and fantasy. For years the faerie elders have maintained balance, but the faerie youth have their own plans for the Glen. When their methods clash, The Dissonance threatens to unravel the song…!
Only with the help of your kiddos will they be able to create the special music that can bring the glen back into balance!
Flourish features an improvising ensemble of seven musicians (singers, winds, strings, percussion and piano). A mixture of singable themes and conducted group improvisation (“Conduction”) invites the audience to inspire performers and lend their voice to the show- no two shows of Flourish will be exactly the same! Kids and adults alike are invited to explore the grounds and meet the fairies this fall during the Very ‘Rary event, and come together for the 40-minute performance of Flourish to complete the immersive journey. Featuring an original story and music by AV Villarreal and co-directed by Kenzie Slottow, this whimsical experience invites audiences to come as faeries themselves, learn the songs and rhythms of the Glen, and experience the power of communal creation.
