How Heat Affects Us: Community Screening & Conversation

August 28, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Increased heat will continue to affect our communities in Austin. You’re invited to an evening of science, art, and film. A short documentary screening of ‘Una Nave Fragil’ will be followed by a community conversation.

Come learn about how extreme heat is a risk for all of us. We’ll have scientists from UT’s Jackson School of Geosciences for a demonstration and art for kids and adults.

Schedule:
6:30 – 7:30 pm: Welcome, science room (with VR demonstration), art room, and food
7:30 – 8:00 pm: Film screening
8:00 – 9:00 pm: Community conversation

Light refreshments and drinks will be served, including empanadas and agua fresca.

Project supported by the City of Austin, National Geographic Society, and Go Austin/Vamos Austin.
