“Yearning, Every Dawn” is a live music journey, merging Iranian classical and western electronic sounds with Persian poetry. A laboratory for experimentation with composed and improvised music, the project features the Iranian kamancheh and live electronics. We strive to push the boundaries of contemporary music and use poetry as a tangible medium to express profound human experiences.
“Yearning, Every Dawn” was born out of a piece for voice, kamancheh, and live electronics, commission by Ojai in 2023 in collaboration with our brilliant friend, Tara Khozein. The project blossomed into a concert-length program, celebrating the gorgeous musical contributions by our Jessika Kenney, Fariba Zahedi, and Theodosia Roussos.
We were fortunate to develop the program at the most recent round of Banff Centre’s “Musicians in Residence” program in January 2024.
