Meera Bai, a princess of yore, gave her heart to Lord Krishna when she was but a child. She devoted her life to the Lord, seeking to be one with the divine, and breaking many social norms for her love. She refused to conform to the expectations of royal women, wives, and widows, instead following her heart. In her time, she was an outcast, yet today we know her as a trail blazer and social reformer. She produced incredible art, built a strong following, and did not hesitate to call out powerful men who took advantage of uneducated commoners. A poetess, a singer, a devotee dedicated to Krishna… and above all a woman of strength who dared to live life on her own terms… Meera Bai chose the way of the storm.
